Korean Hanok Model Study

OVERVIEW

A lighting and composition study inspired by traditional Korean Hanok architecture. The scene focuses on how natural light, shadow, and spatial rhythm define the character of the structure rather than relying on ornamentation or dramatic camera movement.

About the project

Hanok architecture expresses identity through proportion, material, and spatial rhythm. The challenge was translating that restraint into 3D without losing its character.

These forms are intentionally understated, which means lighting carries the emotional weight. I used directional light and controlled shadow to emphasize depth, repetition, and negative space across the courtyard. The composition deliberately avoids symmetry; letting light reveal different parts of the structure gradually to reinforce a sense of calm and quiet permanence.
